B. Prabha (1931), born in Nagpur, was fond of painting since childhood. At the age of sixteen, he was admission in the Art School of Nagpur. And then took admission in J.J. School of Art.
After obtaining a Diploma in Arts there, he obtained a Master’s degree in 1954-55 with special studies in Mural. She was married to the renowned sculptor Shri Vittal and organized her first exhibition with her husband in 1956.
In 1958 he received the first prize of the Bombay Art Society. Since then she has organized many successful exhibitions.
His paintings have also been displayed in Bangkok, Europe and Japan. All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society has also awarded him.
The joy of life is often depicted in B. Prabha’s paintings. Initially he was influenced by Alamelkar, Palsikar, Bendre and Amrita Shergill. Gradually he has developed his original style.
Their pictures can be identified separately. He has portrayed the female figure with utmost innocence. There is a special Mardav in the figures with long face, neck, arms, fingers and quite long body which easily fascinates the mind.
The natural postures of the figures have been seen from new perspectives. Their colors are also very pleasant. Along with mainly orange and green colors, some dark colors (like brown, black) etc. have also been used in limited form.
His paintings of naked young women created a stir in the art world.
The pictures he painted of the displaced Bangladeshi women after the Bangladesh war are also very poignant.
