Shri P.L. Lakshmi Nrisimhamurthy is one of the well-known painters of Andhra Pradesh. He was born in Battalanka on 6 January 1918. His higher art-related education took place at the Government College of Fine Arts and Crafts, Madras.
He was also a visiting lecturer of art at St. Christopher’s Training College, Madras. You participated in the first National Art Exhibition of India. Your paintings were also displayed at the Salon de Mai exhibition in Paris in 1961.
Your paintings are stored in many museums in the country and abroad. He has also been associated with the Progressive Artists Group of Madras and has been associated with many art institutions of Andhra.
You have also created art-related literature and broadcast talks on All India Radio.
The art of Shri Nrisimhamurthy has been more related to mythological subjects. There are simple drawings in the pictures and there is a simplicity in the shapes also.
In terms of sculpture and design, your art is also influenced by the art of the Egyptian pyramids. You have used dark colors used in folk art.
You have also taken figurative influence from the art style of the ancient temples of South India. Your subjects are mostly related to soft and sweet aspects of life and there is vigorous charm in the style.
